Natural Hydrogen Project and Tenure area

Natural Hydrogen has two Exploration Licence Areas - Orford and Franklin

EL 11/2023 – Orford (Granted December 2024)

The Exploration Licence EL 11/2023 (Orford) was granted by Mines Resources Tasmania (MRT) in December 2024. The Orford exploration area spans 4,055 km², with a comprehensive work program planned over five years. This program includes both administrative tasks and geological/geophysical activities, with the aim of de-risking the project early.

  • Year 1:

    • Prepare preliminary assessment for Natural Hydrogen Prospective Resource report.

    • Conduct subsurface studies

  • Year 2:

    • Perform non-invasive airborne surveys

    • Undertake geological subsurface investigations and soil sampling

    • Prioritize social license-to-operate initiatives and community engagement

    • Collaborate with local universities and stakeholders on environmental efforts

  • Years 3 to 5:

    • Focus on advanced geophysical studies

    • Conduct stratigraphic drilling

    • Test existing occurrences to advance the project toward sustainable energy goals

EL 23/2024 – Franklin (Application Registered December 2024)

The application for Exploration Licence EL 23/2024 (Franklin) was registered with MRT in December 2024, after being submitted in 2021. The Franklin exploration area covers 2,848 km².

The proposed work program for Franklin mirrors that of the Orford project, with the same objectives ensuring a consistent approach to exploration and development across both areas.
